You are the bright dash. Press any arrow to begin a play. Use ↑ / ↓ to change lanes and the RUN arrow to move forward. Home runs right; Visitor runs left. The RUN button changes direction with possession. Each tap moves one space; holding an arrow does not auto-repeat. Avoid the five dimmer defenders.
After a tackle, hold ST or SC to see the readout and prepare the next play. ST shows the down, field position, and yards to a first down. SC shows home score, time remaining, visitor score, and quarter. Release the button to return to the prepared field. The players and clock wait until you press an arrow.
K works only on fourth down, before you run. A single LED travels across the center row in your team’s direction, then the game shows the punt or field-goal result. Punts follow a bell curve centered on 40 yards, bounded at 20–60 yards. Touchdowns score 7; field goals score 3.
The clock shows decimal minutes: 7.5 means 7½ minutes. Four 15-minute quarters run twelve times faster, only during plays—about five and a half minutes of live action per game. If time reaches zero during a play, finish that play before the quarter or game ends. Two-player pass-and-play: control each team’s possessions yourselves. Hand the phone to the other player after a score, punt, missed field goal, or failed fourth down. With Simulate Visitor off, the computer controls only the five defenders. Turn it on at the bottom to play as Home: Visitor runs its possessions visibly at four times speed, then a drive summary shows your next starting position. All movement, tackling, punts, scoring, and quarter rules still use the same game engine. Visitor starts the second half at its own 20.
PRO 1 is the easier level: one defender attempts a move every 0.6 seconds. PRO 2 is faster: one defender attempts a move every 0.4 seconds, so you have less time to find a gap. You can switch levels anytime without restarting or losing your score, clock, or field position. Simulated Visitor plays speed both rates up four times.
Desktop keyboard: ↑ / ↓ to change lanes; ← or → to RUN in your team’s direction. Hold Shift for score or Control for status; release to return to the field. Press K to kick on fourth down. Each arrow press moves one space. The older C / S shortcuts also work.
